At Melo, we believe in being straightforward about what data we collect and why. This page explains everything in plain language — no legal jargon.
1. What we collect from buyers
When you use Melo as a buyer, we may collect:
- Name and email address — when you sign in with Google.
- Wishlisted products — items you save while browsing.
- Browsing behaviour — pages visited and products viewed, to improve how we show you relevant sellers.
- Device and browser information — standard technical data used to keep the site working properly.
2. What we collect from seller applicants
When you apply to become a seller on Melo, we collect:
- Full name and business name
- Email address
- Instagram handle
- Product category
- City / region
- A short description of your work and craft
- Approximate monthly production capacity
This information is used solely to review your application. We will contact you directly if your application is successful. Your details are not made public at the application stage.
3. Why we collect it
We collect this information solely to operate the Melo platform — to connect buyers with verified sellers and improve the overall experience. We do not collect data for advertising or marketing to third parties.
4. What we do NOT do
- We never sell your personal data to anyone.
- We never rent or share your data with advertisers or third-party marketing companies.
- We never use your data to build advertising profiles.
5. How we protect your data
We store your data on secure, industry-standard servers with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. We use Supabase as our database provider, which follows best-in-class security practices. Sign-in is handled via Google OAuth — we do not store your Google password. Access to your data is limited to the Melo team.
6. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, email us at contact@themeloshop.com and we will respond within 7 business days.
